Annual Observation Programme


August - September: General "whole group" observation - with opportunity to begin looking at individuals esp. P.E.S. development


  1. October - November: Individual child observations by both members of staff

  2. December; General "whole group" observations.

  3. January - mid-February:  Assessment of progress of each child by both members of staff.

  4. mid-February - March: Based on previous assessment/information work with individuals to support special needs/develop strengths, chart progress before parents evenings.

  5. March:   Continue to note observations prior to reporting to parents on formal parents evenings.

  6. mid-April - June: Complete transition record to be forwarded to P.1


Observations carried out on each individual child would be done through a variety of means e.g.  watching, listening (informal/formal observation), note taking, check lists, photographs, discussion with other staff,  samples of drawings, paintings, writing etc. as evidence.
