Religious & Moral Education Policy

2.   Aims


Bonnybridge Primary School programme of religious and moral education aims to help pupils to develop the necessary skills to:

  • show a knowledge and understanding of the 5

  • strands listed in attainment outcomes and targets in 5-14 guidelines (see section 3) in relation to Christianity and other world religions (Judaism and Islam).

  • appreciate and develop moral values such as honesty, fairness, justice, liberty and concern for others

  • investigate and begin to understand the questions and answers offered by religions, about the nature and meaning of life.

  • begin to develop a personal belief, set of moral values and attitudes through personal search and critical evaluation while learning about the variety of beliefs and values held by so many people in Scotland and around the world.
