Religious & Moral Education Policy

3.   Attainment outcomes and targets

A programme of study has been developed by the Religious and Moral Education working group for Primary 1 to 7, including composite classes.  (see section 5)

This programme aims to achieve a balance of coverage of the attainment outcomes, the various strands and the religions selected for study.  Judaism and Islam were chosen in addition to Christianity because of the similarities which they display.  All three are monotheistic and are based on scriptures, the Bible, the Torah and the Q'ran.

Christianity will be studied for two planning blocks each year and Islam and Judaism will receive attention for one block each.

The Personal Search outcome will not be taught in isolation, but will form an important element of every R.M.E. topic.
