The School Rules fall into four main categories (IMPS)

Industry     Material     Procedures     Safety

I Pupils are expected to make their best effort in all curricular areas and at all  times.  It is appreciated that abilities can vary considerably but pupils are expected to work to their personal potential.

M All school properties i.e. textbooks, jotters, furniture, equipment, playground etc. must be treated with care and respect.

P Pupils are expected to comply with administration requirements and organisational arrangements to ensure the smooth running of the school within an efficient working environment e.g. reliable delivery home of letters, return of absence notes compliance with lunch time procedures etc.

S Due care should be given to safety of self and others e.g. walking on stairs and in corridors.

With the above in mind the following rules apply:

I     * Always do your personal best in everything that you do.

M  * Litter should be placed in bins provided

      * Cover all jotters and textbooks as requested by class teacher

      * Chewing gum must not be brought to school

      * All furniture, fixtures and equipment must be treated with care

P * All articles of clothing should be clearly marked with pupil's name

    * Attendance at school must be punctual

    * Following an absence, a note of explanation must be brought

    * During wet weather pupils should not come to school until 5 minutes before the bell

       (including lunch time)

    * Play is allowed on the grass only during suitable weather and following an inspection by the janitor

    * Pupils should leave the dining hall at lunch time by the front door (except during wet weather when

return to classrooms is via the administration corridor)

    * Waiting arrangements for lunch must be complied with closely.

S * Pupils must walk within the school and move around quietly

    * Permission must be sought before leaving the school during school times

    * Pupils should be polite and considerate to each other

    * Instructions from school staff must be obeyed

    * During wet weather pupils must remain seated in their classroom during intervals

       (Supervision is limited)

    * Children, at all  stages must be collected by a responsible adult if leaving school outwith usual times.

Parent's permission is necessary

   * Proper gym kit should be worn for PE

   * Earrings and necklaces must not be worn in the gym as they are likely to become entangled or caught

      on equipment or other's clothing

   * Unbreakable food or drink containers only should be brought to school (cans are not allowed)

   * Crossing patrols must be used where available

   * Pupils must enter and leave the playground on footpaths provided and never by the staff car park

Following these rules will, hopefully, develop in pupils a sense of self-discipline and an acceptance of responsibility for their actions.   Effective learning is more likely in a well ordered  school community where there is proper respect between members of our community and proper concern for our school environment.
