Bordesley Green Girls' School

The English Department plays a major role in the timetable, promoting pupils' language development in Key Stage 3.  Key Stage 4 pupils take an English Language GCSE course and many also take English Literature.
All pupils are encouraged to use the school's well stocked library.

Mathematics has a high profile in the school curriculum.  In Key Stage 3 learning is based as far as possible on experience, including the use of LOGO software and spreadsheet models.  In Key Stage 4 pupils take a course leading to GCSE.

The Science Department has four well equipped laboratories where pupils are encouraged to learn by experience.  For this reason they are encouraged to take part in schemes such as CREST and WISE.
Key Stage 4 pupils take Science at GCSE, many taking a double award examination.

The school has a modern, up-to-date computer network to which all pupils have free access.  IT is taught in all years and the use of computers is encouraged in all subjects.

Design Technology is taught in all years.  Three subject areas are studied; Food Technology, Textiles and Resistant Materials.
Key Stage 4 pupils follow at least one of these to an external examination.
