  Setting the Scene

Rainforests do not have well marked seasons like ours. Weather remains constant, trees are evergreen, but may have a resting period every few years when leaves are shed.

Rainforests have little variation in climate. It is constantly hot, having temperatures between 25 - 35ºC with high rainfall (not less than 2000 mm per year). This is approximately three times the amount we get in Birmingham.

We have attempted to recreate these conditions in our tropical house.

Pause in this area to experience the temperature and high humidity found in the tropics - an indication of this will be the increasing feeling of stickiness as you walk around.

Readings for all these factors can be recorded around the trail.
