The Junior School offers a caring atmosphere in which girls can develop to their true potential. At Kindergarten level the focus is on the six learning areas and, as they move through the school, girls also acquire additional practical skills from their studies in P.E., Art, Music and Drama. Junior Class teachers are supported by specialists in P.E., French and Music.
When do they start? Girls are admitted to the Junior school part time, mornings only, in the September after their third birthday. The Lower Kindergarten gives a gentle introduction to school life. Girls are admitted full time in the Kindergarten class starting in the September after their fourth birthday. What do they study? In Years 1 - 6 girls study: Art, Information Communication Technology, English, Geography, Handicraft/Technology, History, Mathematics, Music, P.E., Religious Studies and Science. In years 3 - 6 French, Swimming and Country Dancing are added. At ages 7 and 11 girls are prepared for entry to public schools. Do they have contact with the Senior School? At the beginning of their final year in the Junior school, girls transfer to the Senior building. This enables them to experience the many activities of a senior school while retaining the security of the junior school routine. Contact with specialist staff, started in the Junior school, enables them to feel quickly at home in their new surroundings.
