The Community Room at Brearley Nursery School was funded by a City Challenge grant plus additional funding from St Georges Trust Fund. Built in 1994, it has proved a valuable resource for a variety of activities by children, parents, staff and community.

BABY CLUB
We have recently formed a Baby Club for parents and carers of children under one year old. This gives parents and carers a chance to chat, meet the Health Visitor and other babies. Its also a chance to get out for a couple of hours!
In future, in liaison with our Health Visitor we are hoping to have baby massage sessions.

TOY AND BOOK LIBRARY
The Toy and Book Library has been running for several years led by a member of staff the library is run by parent volunteers and child care students. It caters for children from birth to five years, providing a range of toys and books for children and parents from the school and local comunity to borrow on a weekly basis. Toys need to be replaced often and we have been fortunate in obtaining grants from Children in Need and St. Georges Trust.

COMMUNITY COURSES
During the year we offer a range of courses and workshops for parents, carers and community members, some of which lead to recognised qualifications. In the past these have included:

In addition, the community room hosts coffee afternoons, staff meetings, support group meetings, staff training and community lunches.
