Hi!
Welcome to the all NEW Broughton High Design Technology Homepage. This is where you can going look at all aspects of our schools Technology Department.

Walk around our technology block in 3D!

During the first three years at Broughton the pupils undertake tasks in designing and making many different functional projects, using electronics to drawing engineering diagrams, the children are always kept busy, learning and refining new skills.

Pupils have the chance to use many different types of engineering equipment, just as in the real world. They have access to power and workshop tools including band saws, pillar drills, sanding machines, centre lathes, jigsaws etc. The school also has a wide range of hand tools which pupils use for less industrious jobs. There are many so I'm only going to mention a few here. These are: A large range of saws from coping to hacksaws, hand drills, files, etc.  All the usual stuff! Basically we are well stocked!

As a result, GCSE projects conducted at Broughton are minimally restricted so pupils can make projects from the wild and vivid thoughts of their imagination, without having limitations from resources. This ensures Broughton High School achieves some of the best annual GCSE results, especially for a comprehensive, in Lancashire.

Take a look at some of our:

Pupils are also invited to clubs after school and at lunch where they can do projects that THEY want to do - projects they wouldn't normally do in lessons. They can use all of the school's resources and equipment and staff are always 'happy to help'. Teachers encourage pupils to come along as this improves their confidence with things such as electronics so they can develop their knowledge, making projects that they want to make.
