Luxor from  a Hot Air Balloon

Hot air balloon rides start very early in the morning. Looking at the pictures you can see the effect of the sun coming up gradually and the pictures get lighter during the trip. Balloons take off from the west bank of the Nile at Luxor and look over the Valley of the Kings.

This picture shows the edge of the fertile Nile Valley and the start of desert and mountains.

The picture shows the Nile and almost the full width of the valley. It is a very narrow strip of land.

Taking off from the West bank of the Nile at Luxor and looking over the Valley of the Kings, the farming and the houses.

The roads leading in to the Valley of the Kings

Looking down on the remains of a temple of Rameses, this one is currently being worked on.

These are three different views of the same place.

Many photographs show the change from fertile land to desert showing just how narrow the strip of Nile Valley is.

Many of these buildings have no roof.

The roads are sandy tracks, there is no tarmac in sight.

Working by hand in the fields before it gets too hot!

Putting the balloon away after the trip.
