The Glastonbury Thorn

The legend of the Glastonbury thorn is that when Joseph of Arithmathea visited Glastonbury after the crucifixion of Jesus, he thrust his staff into the ground and it promptly grew roots and began to grow into a bush. Cuttings have always been taken from that original bush and they have had a bush growing there ever since. It blossoms twice a year...at Easter and Christmas.

The Queen always has a spray of Glastonbury thorn blossom on her Christmas table.
