Ballymoney Nursery School was founded during the Second World War in a village outside the town. It is now situated in the town and has been in existence on this site for over thirty years. The school is funded by The Department of Education and is run by a Board of Governors under the North Eastern Education and Library Board. We offer free places to seventy-eight children and have a long-standing tradition of providing integrated pre-school education in the Ballymoney area. Applications are received each January for a place starting the following September. Currently children attend for one year prior to starting Primary School. The school runs three sessions with twenty-six children in each and we are in operation five days each week The times of the sessions are as follows; Full time 9.00am. to 1.30pm. There are four permanent qualified members of staff, two Teachers and two Nursery Assistants. The teachers hold special qualifications in Early Childhood Education as well as their teaching qualifications. One Nursery Assistant holds a B.T.E.C. and the other has a NVQ Level 3 Qualification.
We work in close partnership with the parents of the children. Through this we can share the children’s achievements and any problems they may have. Throughout the year parents have formal and informal opportunities to discuss the development of their children with the staff. Evenings are arranged for parents and they are given the opportunity to suggest speakers they wish to hear. For further information you
may contact the Principal, Mrs Doreen Armstrong at the above address. |
