Welcome to First Steps Nursery

At present the Nursery is sited on the campus of Holy Family Primary School and is integrated into the life of the school, where the children can share the facilities and enjoy events such as Christmas Concerts, magic shows or interesting visitors. It came into being in September 2000. A new purpose built Nursery has been planned and should be in place shortly.

An experienced Infant Teacher Miss Anne Bateson leads the team that comprises one full-time trained Nursery Assistant (trained to NVQ level 3) and two part-time Assistants, who are currently studying for NVQ level 3.

There are currently 39 children on roll. 52 free part-time places are available.

There are two sessions per day:
9:00 – 11:30 am
12:30 – 3:00 pm

First Steps Nursery provides a comprehensive pre-school programme which aims to develop language, creativity, early maths and literacy in a highly motivating, happy atmosphere. The Nursery has been equipped with innovative play materials and the children have a rich, stimulating environment where they can enjoy play and where learning is fun.

Parents are fully involved in the teaching and learning and provide both financial and personal expertise when required. There are regular planning meetings to develop children’s strengths and to meet individual needs. Assessment is an ongoing daily event. Regular newsletters keep parents informed of happenings in the Nursery.

The Staff of First Steps Nursery work together to provide a happy, carefree environment where each child can blossom and grow as they take their "first steps" on the road to self development. We hope that in the near future our children will enjoy a purpose built unit with outside play facilities and a car park for the convenience of parents. We look forward to meeting you and your child.

Further details and copies of our prospectus are available from the school office or by phoning 028 7963 2153.
