Oakfield Nursery Unit aims to offer an enjoyable introduction to school life. We offer a safe, secure, stimulating environment enabling each child to develop to their full potential at their own individual rate.

There are 52 Full Day Places.
There are 2 teachers and 2 Nursery Assistants.

The child-centered Nursery curriculum offers a varied programme of progressive play situations carefully planned by the staff.
The curriculum is planned in a holistic way incorporating all areas of learning in each monthly theme.

A welcoming environment is provided for parents. Parental Interviews are at the end of the second term when parents are able to meet with their child’s teacher.
There is an Open Day in August for children and their parents to visit the nursery and meet the staff and some of their peers.
Parents are given a Monthly Newsletter providing information such as the theme/colour/shape for the incoming month, also information about events/activities in the nursery and the Primary school.

We are very happy to welcome visitors, into the nursery to share their knowledge and skills with the children and give them " hands on experience when appropriate."

Children are encouraged to borrow a book from our library every Friday.

A snack is provided every day. The children all receive the same snack along with their milk.
School dinners start in October. All the children will receive a dinner, served at 12.00 noon so that the children will have as long a period as possible of uninterrupted play. Dinner time is seen as another learning experience, it is an opportunity to develop skills such as social, language and fine motor.

Oakfield Nursery Unit has two large classrooms, a covered play area, which can be used during both outdoor and indoor play, and an outdoor playground with a large grassy area where classes play separately or together.
