SCHOOLS HOME PAGE
The European Union launched the Socrates Programme in 1995 in support of developing the European dimension in all aspects of education throughout all member states. Part of the Socrates Programme, called Comenius, opened the door for the very first time to primary schools which were seeking to develop joint curriculum projects with schools in other EU countries. Since 1995, primary schools have been able to apply for and benefit from European funding to support project development. Primary teachers have been able to travel to visit their partner schools abroad in order to plan and evaluate projects face to face with their colleagues. Children have been able to communicate with their link classes via electronic mail and video-conferencing. Principals have been able to take part in study visits to meet the Principals of their partner schools to evaluate project development.
If your school is participating in a project with one or more schools in other countries, and you would like to share information about the project with other teachers, please send some details to us for inclusion on this page. Your project does not have to be part of the Comenius Programme - we are interested in featuring all projects which help children to develop a sense of European identity and understanding of other cultures and languages.
