Devastating Low Level Attacker
   This was a twin-engine medium bomber was the most fearsome sight of World War II. The North American B-25 Mitchell sent bombs screaming earthward from high in the sky, but it also attacked with speed and surprise down on the deck, strafing ships and troops with its lethal nose guns. The B-25 was a hard-hitter, a superb weapon, and a great aircraft.It was a Medium bomber and a devastating low-level attacker. it was also a superb Gunship.The RAF had 910 Mitchells in WW2. It was named after the controversial champion of U.S. Air power General ‘Billy’ Mitchell. They are best remembered fot the raid in April 1942 on Tokyo led by Lt Colonel J. Doolittle from the carrier Hornet.  At the time the allies were being beaten in the Pacific and this boosted American morale. Mitchells fought all over the world as well as in Russia, Africa and Europe.

It was a five-seat medium bomber with two 1268-kW Wright R-2600-92 
Cyclone 14-cyinder radial piston engines. Its maximum, speed 438 km/h at 
4000 m. Its range was 2200 km with bombload. It’s maximum altitude 7375 
m and it’s weight: empty 8836 kg and loaded 15876 kg. It’s armament: one 
75mm cannon or up to sixteen 12.7mm machine-guns ,plus eight 127-mm 
rocket projectiles and up to 1360 kg of bombs.
