This book is set on a Scottish island called Ponteniel. It is about a family who live on the island who are pretty strange. The main character is called Frank. He is 16 and had killed three relatives. He kills and tortures animals and believes that this gives him power and controls his life. His brother Eric has escaped from a mental hospital and is heading back home. His dad owns the island and has a secret to hide from Frank. It is an adult book because it has swearing in it. I think that it is very well written.
