In History you will find out about the past. You will become a time detective looking for clues and answers by learning to study and question old and new sources of evidence.

How did King Harold die? Who murdered Julius Caesar? Why were there 2 world wars? Who was behind the Gunpowder Plot and many more fascinating questions will be answered over the three years you spend at Castle Rock.

The History department aims to raise all pupils knowledge and understanding of British and world-wide events. Through the stories of history the pupils will learn the important life skills of interpretation, use of sources, prioritising, reasoning and forming opinions. Pupils will learn to develop a balanced and well structured argument. The department presents history in an interesting way, with the use of videos and pupil activities such as role play and aspires to motivate and encourage pupils to be enthusiastic towards topics studied.
