COURSE OUTLINE
English is available in two options - English and English Literature
English
Students will follow either the Core Curriculum (leading to a maximum grade of C) or the extended curriculum (appropriate for students aiming for grades a* to C).
Assessment is by terminal examination only.
Students will develop skills in the following areas -
Reading and Directed Writing
Continuous Writing
Usage
Oral/aural communication (optional)
English Literature
Assessment is by terminal examination only.
Option 1 - Paper 1 (open book) consists of questions on each of 3 set texts covering at least two genres.
Paper 2 examines responses to an unseen text.
Option 2 - One paper (closed book) with questions on each of 4 set texts which between them cover each of 3 genres.
