There are many routes to thuso the most direct is to head north from  Glasgow / Edinburgh to perth the the A9 to Inverness the highland capital

then carry on north along the A9 from Inverness
at Latheron 25 miles south of Wick take the A895 and then the A882 which will take you to Thurso. the travel time will be about 7 hours from Glasgow so allow yourself plenty of time
Thereare Train services via Inverness to Thurso & wick from any where in the uk with sleeper service from London to inverness
By Air British Airway fly to Wick the cost is very high
