Years 7 and 8
Winner: Heather Broughton (7KXB)
HER EYES WERE BIGGER THAN HER BELLY
There was a young girl called Kelly whose eyes were bigger than her belly. She ate all she could, which was more than she should. There was a young girl called Kelly.
Her favourite sweets were Smarties, she ate them all at parties. She hated the blue because they gave her the flu . . . still, her favourite sweets were Smarties!
Her food just sat on her plate, not touched and still looking great. She could eat no more or she would fall on the floor, so her food didn't move off her plate.
In the end poor Kelly was sick - all her friends were taking the mick. It was all her fault, all she eats now is salt but at least now she will not be sick!
So her eyes were bigger than her belly, she ate a lot did poor Kelly. But now she is thin and has only one chin her eyes aren't bigger than her belly.
Second Place: Evelyn Webster (7KXB)
Evelyn's piece is in the form of a script, too long to reproduce in full. It begins as follows:
TOO MANY COOKS SPOIL THE BROTH
WAITRESS: One soup for table nine!
COOK 1: Good, I likes making soup, I does!
COOK 2: Hey! Who said you were gonna do it, it's my turn on Saturdays!
COOK 3: Shut up you two! Anyway, it's my turn today.
COOK 2: Is it hell!
COOK 3: It's your turn tomorrow!
COOK 1: Shuts your mouths!
COOK 3: He's right, we'll never get anywhere like this.
COOK 2: Okay then, we'll all do it together.
COOK 1: Duh, alrights then!
COOK 3: Right, you two get the vegetables, I'll find a pot.
(Needless to say, things do not work out as easily as they think they will.)
