School Rules and Discipline

Keep your hands, feet
and unkind thoughts
to yourself...

School Rules and Discipline:
The school employs a Positive Behaviour Management Programme which focuses on a reward and encouragement, and insists on the highest standards of behaviour at all times. It encourages and atmosphere of confidence, high self esteem and positive actions. Children are expected to behave with courtesy and consideration and to take responsibility for their actions.
Our main school rule is keep your hands, feet and unkind thoughts to yourself.
Disapproval and withdrawal of privileges are the main sanctions. Parents are notified if we have concerns and invited into school to discuss a way forward.

Complaints Procedures:
Initially parents are asked to discuss problems with the class teacher. If this is unsatisfactory then they are welcome to bring the problem to the Headteacher. If the matter is unresolved then parents can contact the Education Office (see address on the first page) or the Chair of Governors.

Attendance:
We feel that it is important for parents, in partnership with school to encourage their children to develop a respect for education to ensure that their children are only absent from school when strictly necessary.
When absence is unavoidable, through illness or injury for example, the school should be notified by 9.00 am, either by a note, a telephone call or personal contact. Absence for additional holidays or occasional days out will only be approved in exceptional circumstances by the school. If taken without this approval, it will be counted as unauthorised.
The school works closely with the Education Welfare Officer to improve educational access in our school.
