School Organisation

The school is divided into 3 Key Stages: The Foundation Stage, which is the Nursery and Reception Years; Key Stage 1 for children in Years 1 and 2, and Key Stage 2 for children in Years 3 and 4.
At the moment children then transfer to one of the local Middle Schools. However, if the changes proposed by the Local Authority take place, in 2003 we shall begin to grow into a Primary School, retaining Years 5 and 6.

The Nursery Sessions

The morning group comes from 9.00 a.m. until 11.30 a.m.
The afternoon group comes from 1.00 p.m. until 3.30 p.m.

The timing of these sessions means that parents with children in main school can settle or collect their child before going to Nursery.

The School Day
Morning Session:   8.50 a.m. to 12 noon
Afternoon Session:  1.00 p.m. to 3.25 p.m.

We ask that parents bring their children to school on time to gain the maximum learning opportunities from the school day.
The total teaching time for Reception, Years 1 and 2 is 21 hours 40 minutes, while Years 3 and 4 receive 23 hours and 30 minutes excluding playtimes and lunchtimes.

The Reception Sessions
At the beginning of the School Year, Reception children attend part-time in a smaller group until the week before the Autumn half term to allow them to settle into the daily routine and to feel secure with their new teachers.
