School DISCIPLINE

The school enjoys a reputation for good discipline both within the classroom and outside. Disruptive or anti-social behaviour is not tolerated and the school deals firmly with miscreants in this respect.

Various sanctions are used in ensuring the maintenance of our high standards and these include:

counselling followed by a verbal warning,
referral to Head of Year or Head of Faculty,
written work as a punishment,
lunchtime detention,
after-school detention,
suspension or in extreme cases permanent exclusion from the school.

Parents are involved at an early stage and are always informed, in writing, in the cases of after-school detention and suspension or exclusion.

We make no apology for involving parents with disciplinary matters or with problems affecting progress since we feel that education is a partnership involving the young person, parents and the school and that, with a concerted approach, our chances of ensuring the best outcomes are greatly enhanced.

We expect and depend on parents to support the school in all matters affecting discipline.
