In April 1998 the Banff & Buchan Young Engineers Club, which consists of pupils from Fraserburgh Academy, won the Young Engineers' Clubs in Scotland trophy.
The team came first out of about 150 clubs in the whole of Scotland.
The prize the team won was a five day study tour of Scottish industries and also a trip to Heathrow airport.
Mr Dunbar said that it was an excellent achievement for the pupils who all meet regularly on Wednesdays at the Banff & Buchan College of Further Education.
This is the second time the Club has won the trophy.
