About the Music Department
We are fortunate in our school that so many of our pupils put their musical ability to good use. The high standard often reached in the Music Department is a
reflection of the ability of our pupils, along with their dedication and
willingness to work hard. Our pupils are encouraged to broaden their
experience of music and to have a knowledge and appreciation of all musical
styles from Renaissance to Rock.
We offer the full range of Standard Grade, Higher, CSYS and Module courses to cater for all interests and abilities.
A large part of the work done by the Music Department is extracurricular. In recent years instrumental work has become very active, leading to regular involvement with two orchestras and a number of smaller groups. Each year we hold a concert during which the Music Competition takes place. We invite experienced colleagues from other educational establishments to adjudicate for us, and the standard of the winning performances is always very high.
