Class 5 have been doing a project on changes in land use
They decided to look at The Stadium of Light and find out what was there before the stadium was built.
Class 5 wrote to Mr. Dodds to find out the information.

Monkwearmouth colliery was there before the stadium. 2,500 people worked there. The colliery closed in 1993.
Class 5 wrote to Mr. Johnson who helped to build The Stadium of Light. It took 20 months to build and 250 people to build it.
