Conversation Booklet

Conversation preparation

In order to help prepare for the conversation part of the oral examination, I use a  booklet of questions designed to make pupils think about the sort of answers they could give.  They are encouraged to expand on the answers and make them their own.   Most of the NEAB requirements are covered here with relation to my school, Habergham High School and Burnley and area.  The files are in MS Publisher 98 format.

Download Acorn Publisher file by clicking here.   Notes on unzipping below.

If you do not have MS Publisher on your PC, and you are a teacher or pupil, you can get it via several companies that advertise in the Computer mags at a special education price of about  £35, which is incredibly cheap for an excellent programme.

Students can of course download files themselves and adapt them if they have Publisher.   Teachers, feel free to alter and reprint the questions yourself as you require, although please let me know if you have used them successfully.

Unzipping Acorn files

You can do one of two things to access the files in Publisher format.

Download onto an Acorn and unzip the file with the Public Domain "Spark Plus" available free from Dave Pilling.  When downloaded access the File menu by clicking with the middle button over the file.  Go down to set file type and type in ImpDoc and the file will turn become into an Impression File, assuming you have Impression of course.
Alternatively download the file onto a PC and unzip with Winzip.   Copy the file when unzipped onto a floppy and then change the file type as described above.
Acorn users, e-mail me with your interests teaching wise as I have years worth of Impression files.  I didn't realize I would be able to make them available as such until today!
