Cliff railway
The Cliff Railway at CAT (Centre For Alternative Technology) is one of the main attractions for their visitors. It is water powered. This works by having two carriages and one of them being filled with water from a pond at the top of the railway. The one that is filled with water pushes itself down the hill and pulls the other carriage up so in a way it is sort of like a circular band. When we went to C.A.T there was an audiotape all about the Cliff Railway and how it works. The Cliff Railway is a very clever piece of machinery and its a good way to move around the centre and saves electricity by being water powered. You dont have to pay anything (if you are staying at the ECO cabins)which makes it even more popular for the visitors. I hope you have enjoyed our piece on the cliff railway.
