The sun warms the ground and then heat from the ground warms the air above it . During the night, the ground cools down again. This makes the air cooler in the mornings even on a sunny day. In fact, the sun is so big that you could fit a million Earths inside it with room to spare. In the middle of the sun a process called nuclear fusion turns HYDROGEN gas into helium gas. The change releases huge amounts of NUCLEAR ENERGY. The sun beams out its energy in all directions as electromagnetic waves. Some of these waves give us HEAT and LIGHT. There are also radio waves, ultraviolet rays X-rays and others.
The sun was formed from a mass of gas and dust five billion years ago. It contains enough fuel to keep it glowing for another five billion years. The heat and light given out by the sun make it possible for plants and animals to live here on the planet that we call the EARTH. When the sun sets the moon comes up. On the other side of the world the sun comes up. If you want to see some of the things on the weather station which some people call the computer you will see some things like the sunshine and sunset, wind direction, wind speed and others. The sun only comes out at dawn I do not know why that is though.
