Scotland - UN
The Scotland-UN committee was formed in March 1979 when it became obvious that the incoming Thatcher government in Westminster was determined to defy the sovereign will of Scotland by refusing to implement the Scotland Act. This Act had been adopted by a clear majority of votes cast in a national referendum in full accordance with all known constitutional rules and precedents. The committee came together to take urgent action at international level to combat what they regarded as nothing less than open illegality and anarchy.
The Scotland-UN Committee from the beginning has always been open to people who believe that a grave travesty of constitutional justice was perpetrated against the expressed democratic wishes of the sovereign people of Scotland, when the Conservative government under Margaret Thatcher repealed the Scotland Act 1979.
The objective is to take Scotland's Claim of Right to Self-Determination to the United Nations Organisation and the international community generally. It confines its activities to the international diplomatic field, except insofar as it is necessary to make them known at home, and to disseminate information and expertise gathered in the international field. Liaison and co-operation is, however, maintained with other like minded organisations working for the recall of our legislature, the Scottish Parliament currently in abeyance.
During the past 16 years the Scotland-UN Committee has made many representations at international level. The Committee has had Scotland's case raised in the UN Commission on Human Rights, where it is still under consideration. The Committee has made lengthy submissions to the Council of Europe, the Assemblies of The European Communities, the President of The United States of America and others. The matter of the Scottish national heirloom, the Stone of Destiny, has been discussed in a UNESCO special committee.
Every government in the world has been made aware of the Scottish situation, and diplomatic contacts are maintained in order to prepare the ground for any future action that may be necessary.
A definitive statement on the Scottish constitutional position was presented to the Queen and followed up by an approach to the Governments participating in the Helsinki Agreements under the auspices of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe (CSCE). The Scottish situation was raised at the CSCE Follow-up Conferences in Vienna, Paris, Copenhagen and Moscow, where it contributed to the adoption of a number of measures.
The Committee mandate is contained in a petition requesting it to take Scotland's case to international diplomatic organisations such as the UN, to which the 2 million signature petition was sent.

Society of William Wallace
BRAVEHEART
The Wallace Motto
Dico tibi verum, libertas optimum rerum, nunquam servili sub nexu, vivito fili.
I tell you the truth, the best of all things is freedom, never son, live under the bonds of slavery.
"The story of Wallace poured a Scottish prejudice into my veins which will boil along there until the floodgates of life shut in eternal rest." (Robert Burns 1759-1796)
The Society of William Wallace was founded many years ago to promote what Wallace did for Scotland in the late 13th Century. Wallace showed the people of Scotland how to fight for their land and their freedom, taught them that the English oppressors could be beaten, and at the battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297 he proved it.
Every year the society organises an annual march from Johnstone to Elderslie, to commemorate Scotland's greatest hero, a man who gave his life for the freedom of his country. You can join the Society for an annual fee of £3 (US$4.50).

Friends of Scotland
SCOTLAND, one of the oldest nations in the world, has made a massive
contribution to mankind in many fields, particularly science, industry and health. Her people have been to the fore in setting up democratic governments all over the world.
Many Scots lost their lives fighting for American Independence. A Scot,
Alexander Hamilton, helped write the American Constitution and a great
many Scots were involved in making the USA the country it is today.
Similarly, Scots took a leading part in the exploration and then bonding
together of Canada. Alexander MacDonald and George Brown were two of
the founding fathers of the Canadian Confederation. For its first 24 years the
Dominion of Canada had Scots as its Prime Ministers.
But today there is no Scottish Parliament. Ihe USA has its State Legislatures
and Canada has its Provincial Parliaments, but even within the United
Kingdom Scotland is denied its own voice.
The Scots, election after election, have voted for a Scottish Parliament.
However London, just as it denied the early Americans their Home Rule,
denies the modern Scots the privilege of governing themselves. In 1979 the
London Government held a referendum asking Scots if they wanted their own
Parliament within the United Kingdom. Although a majority voted for a
Scottish Parliament, London again denied the Scots.
We send representatives to the English Parliament where there are 524
English MPs to 72 Scottish, 38 Welsh and 17 Irish MPs. With this unfair
advantage, when it comes to a choice of priorities the English always win,
Day by day the Scottish identity and way of life is being undermined and
eroded. Scottish history, although so rich in its achievement, is almost
non-existent in our own schools. Our children are taught British history which in
effect means English history. Our people will soon not know where they have
come from.
Our goal is to gain Independence within the European Community and be like
all the other normal, small countries who are prospering in Europe, free to
negotiate as equals.
The Scottish National Party are gaining strength but we need help from all those who
believe in equality and freedom, some no doubt who have had the benefit of
Scottish assistance and sacrifice in achieving independence for their own
country.
This help will be used to re-establish one of the world's oldest nations to its
rightful place.
