Why Scotland needs Independence

Scotland is trapped in a Union with England (the United Kingdom) that has been, and continues to be, detrimental to Scottish ideals, institutions and her economy. Scotland is a rich country, with vast oil, gas, coal, water, timber and human reserves. Yet, no matter how Scotland votes, it is the English majority that decides who rules in Westminster and controls these resources. The last 16 years of Conservative rule have forced unwanted policies on Scotland, and ensured that some 30% of Scots live below the EU poverty line. Meanwhile, Scottish Labour MPs (Members of Parliament) betray Scotland sit on their hands and refuse to recall the Scots Parliament. Only Independence and a proportionally elected sovereign Scottish Parliament can restore the destiny of Scotland to its rightful owners - the people of Scotland.

Currently the Scottish National Party is the only political party campaigning for Scottish Independence.
