Our History

Hatchford Primary School has served the local community of Chelmsley Wood in Birmingham since 1971.  It started life as separate Junior and Infant Schools.  In 1980 they joined together into one Primary school.  In 1993 the school adopted Grant-Maintained Status.  In 1999 Hatchford will become a Community school.  The school now has approximately 570 children from Nursery to Year 6.

What does our school
Look like

Hatchford was designed as an open plan school with three separate buildings on one site for children in Nursery, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two.

Key Stage One has its own hall with a variety of PE equipment, a developing conservation area and well equipped cookery room.  The hall is also used for hot meals and sandwiches at lunchtime.

Key Stage Two has its own hall with extensive PE equipment, a conservation area, music room, ICT suite and Science and Technology area.  It houses the School Library which is in constant usage by all children within school and employs a charted librarian.

The school also has a unit of two classes for children with Moderate Learning Difficulties, with one in each building.

Also on site is a large playing field, separate playgrounds for Key Stage 1 and 2, a seated grassed area for quiet activities and developing environmental areas.
