Sixth Form

In the coming year, we will be offering a range of Intermediate GNVQ courses which can be linked to A' level Art.  These follow on naturally from  GCSE courses and will provide you with a good foundation for future learning and will enhance your job prospects.

  • GNVQ Courses.  Nationally,  these are offered at Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced level.  They are task based vocational awards and are well recognised by colleges and employers.  They are demanding but very practically orientated.  The final awards are pass, merit or distinction.

  • The GNVQ's we offer are all at Intermediate level.  An Intermediate is equivalent to 4 GCSE grades C or above and takes 1 year of full-time study.

  • A Level.  This year we shall be offering A Level Art.  The art department is widely recognised for the high quality of the students' work.  You would be expected to study this alongside a GNVQ.

  • Key Skills.  These underpin all GNVQ courses.  The three compulsary elements are Application of Number, Information

Technology and Communcation.  The IT is examined through
            Pitmans examinations at various levels.

  • Young Enteprise  This is a voluntary activity whereby members of the Sixth Form set up and run their own company, for a year.  It involves both Hatters Lane School and other local schools, businesses and colleges.  If you  take on the challenge of running your own company then you can sit an examination  in April which will lead to an NVQ level 2 award, plus a certificate to show your participation.

  • Records of Achievement  These will be updated during the year to reflect your new skills and experiences.

  • Retakes  These are possible on an individual basis
