9th December 1999 Dear Parents, Thank you letters normally come after Christmas but I'd like to 'get mine in' before the end of term because there's much to say thank you for. Firstly your response to the NSPCC appeal was way beyond expectations with a total of £946.51 collected. Thank you for that. Secondly, as you've heard already from the Friends, their Bazaar which so many of you supported, was a huge success with around £1400 raised. Thank you all for your terrific support. And thirdly, thank you for being such good audiences at each of our infant concerts which are such an important part of Christmas for the children. Retiring collections at these raised £162.32 for the Salvation Army, and there's still the Junior Carol Service to go! Speaking of which, please arrive at the church in good time on Wednesday from 6.30 to 6.50 p.m. Children should wear a white shirt or blouse, and it would greatly assist if you could hold on to their coats and jumpers for the duration of the service (about 45 minutes) as the children will all sit together at the front of the church. A reminder the Christmas lunch will be served on Thursday 16th December. (£1.19). If buying any items of school clothing over the holiday, please remember that trousers and skirts should be grey in colour and traditional in style. If in doubt do check with us. Footwear should be black. Coloured trainers are not permitted. Again, we very much appreciate the efforts made to support our school uniform policy. Should you be planning to get a computer for Christmas, or if you already have one, don't forget to check at: http://atschool.eduweb.co.uk/hawkesfarm/index.html for photographs of our Christmas plays. A new digital camera has enhanced the quality of these if you wish to print them at home. Incidentally, you will notice that in line with our new internet policy - no names are given with the photos. Finally, can I end as I began by thanking you for all the support you've shown the school over the past year. We really appreciate the help you give us in helping you children to get the best from school. We've a number of exciting projects lined up to mark the millennium next year, but for the time being, I'd like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and an equally happy start to the Millennium. Yours sincerely, John Wilson J.R. Wilson. Headteacher. P.S. School will re-open after the holiday on Thursday 6th January. If you know of any parents seeking a school place for their children for September 2000, please bring our special open days for parents of 4+ pupils to their attention. Friday 21st January 10.00 a.m. Tuesday 25th January 10.00 a.m. Wednesday 26th January 10.00 a.m. Tuesday 1st February 10.00 a.m.
