Wales Year 12 Field Trip March 1998 (by a survivor)Wales

rainOur field trip, wet, cold, windy, in the middle of nowhere. Well this was true.

However we all (well most of us) enjoyed our week in Wales on the combined Biology, GeographyField Trip.
We were all expecting the worst after being filled with horror stories by Year 13, So when we arrived at Orieltonto find warm water, heating and (not-communal) showers we were pleased.

busThe trip did not get off to a very good start as the coach door kept openingclock and someone was sick. We arrived safely but we were all stiff and tired.

The feeling of tiredness worsened as the week went on, the work was hard and the day long (7.15am to 9.00pm every day). However we all enjoyed getting wet in rivers (hydrologicalinvestigations), muddy in streams and climbing sand dunes(human impact on ecosystems).

snails, not flowers
The biologists counted hundreds of periwinkles on the beach whilst others measured the length of seaweedand dodged crabs and butterfish.

The geographers went into civilisation one day to carry out people counts, land use changes (urban geography) and to stock up on chocolate.

I am sure I speak on behalf of all the people who went to Wales when I say a big "thank you" to the teachers who accompanied us and were brilliant throughout the week.
