Sittingbourne is in North Kent, the 'Garden of England' and gateway to Europe.

The area around Sittingbourne which includes the Island of Sheppey and Faversham is known as Swale, this area is bounded by the Medway, the Swale and the North Downs.

Sittingbourne has a long history as a market town - an important post for medieval pilgrims on their way to Canterbury.

Swale is noted for cherries, orchards, the paper industry and hops as well as boasting Kent's first European Blue Flag winning beach.
