The weather was looking up and the sun began to shine through the clouds.
Sports Day began with the field events and ended with many happy pupils as people had achieved their personal best in many of their races.
For example Laura Middleton of 7 (iii) went from 3.05 minutes in class time to 3.02 minutes with her 800m contribution to Sports Day, (which won the race).
An excellent effort was made by all in that race but probably most noticeable was Natalie Vossey's brave run in 4.36 minutes.
In Year Nine's 800m race Kerry Mitchell of 9(iv) won followed closely by Jenny Slate of 9(iv) with a time of 3.18.
An outstanding effort was made by all participants in all the races.
Year Ten's 200m race was won by Gemma Wellard of 10(iv) who was closely followed by Zoe Webbage, 10 (iii).
In the various relay races there were some good passes even though in Year Nine's race there was some confusion over who was to run in which lane.
After all that somebody lost their shoe but carried on like a true professional.
Teachers' comments were all positive. Here are a few:
Mrs West said: "It was fine and the girls were well organised".
Mrs Challis and Mrs Jervis both agreed it was well organised and the crowd were co-operative and enthusiastic.
Mr Roberts said: "It was fun" and left it at that.
Miss Marks said: "It was excellent, very enjoyable. I am impressed by it all". She also agreed with Year Sevens that it was better than lessons.
Miss Norman commented that the whole day was excellent and enjoyable and was well organised by Mrs West.
Mrs Clayton said that :"the day was too short and staff would like some more sun!"
Mrs McGregor said "it was good fun and exciting when photo finishes were needed!"
Miss Burr said the crowd were to be congratulated for being supportive, well behaved and so involved.
After an eventful hour or so the girls traipsed off to the hall to find out form winners. The hall had an exciting but tense atmosphere with the teachers joining in the cheering. As expected all years participated vocally extremely well but Year Ten took first place for loudness.
The results were as follows:

Thank you to all the PE staff and other staff involved and to the pupils for their great sportsmanship, good spirit and organisation.
