OUR SCHOOL AND LOGO'S HISTORY
The School
Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf was established
in 1978 with 99 pupils, and is the only Welsh medium comprehensive
school in South Glamorgan, catering for pupils aged from eleven
to eighteen (years 7 to 13) from the Welsh medium primary schools
and bilingual units in other primary schools in the country. By
now there are over one and a half thousand pupils in the school. In September 1986 the school was organised for the first time on two sites. Years 7 and 8 are housed in the building at Fairwater, known as the Lower School, while all the other pupils are taught in the original building - the Upper School - at the banks of the river Taff at Llandaff North. A special unit was established in 1988 which caters for
pupils with severe learning problems.
