SOME RECENT SUCCESSES

Universities

During recent years many of our pupils have gained considerable success which brought fame and credit to themselves and the school. Our pupils have studied in the Royal Academy in London and at the Birmingham Conservatoire.

Our pupils have won Open Scholarships to the University of Wales and others have been offered places in Oxford and Cambridge.

Pupils have gained admission to the Royal College of Dramatic Arts and to Bristol Old Vic .

Arts

Pupils are members of the National Youth Choir of Wales and the National Youth Orchestra of Wales.Glantaf pupils have also performed in the Urdd Theatre Company and the National Youth Drama Company. Many pupils are members of the Sherman and HTV Drama Workshops.

Sporting activities

Pupils from Glantaf represent Wales in fencing, the pentathalon, Hockey, Netball, Tennis, Chess and Athletics. Many Boys play Rugby for the welsh under 18 and under 16 squad. The Christ College, Brecon Sevens Competition was won by Ysgol Glantaf and the Rugby team also reached the final of the British School Seven-a-side Competition at Rosslyn Park. The under 16 team have won the Welsh Schools Cup and the Seven-a-Side Schools Competition.

Glantaf have gained places in the Welsh Basketball squad. The under 14 team have reached the final round of the Welsh Basketball Competition and the under 15 team won the Welsh Cup.The under 13 team won the Welsh Schools Cross Country competition.

Exams

We are proud of our 'A' level,A/S level, G.C.S.E. and Certificate of Education results.

Ysgol Glantaf received a most encouraging report from the Inspectors who praised the effective partnership between the school and parents and the positive ethos which promotes the efforts of staff and pupils.
