The National curriculum is covered at both key stages. Each year in KS3 we cover 5 units of work, 1 per term. In KS4 we work to the GCSE modules. Assessment is through coursework to match the final demands of the GCSE courses we work to.
ICT is the tool of the future. It opens up a wonderful world of opportunities for all students.
All students are assessed through coursework at the end of each term and awarded a national curriculum level. We consolidate these grades at the end of each year to give an overall National curriculum level. The final result in year 9 is used to award a SAT grade.
We offer all students one of 2 courses. Applied GCSE in ICT--Assessment supplied by ICAA Full GNVQ in ICT- Assessment supplied by Edexcel.
Most students will take the final assessments in year 11. Some students may be able to complete the required coursework and/ or exams early.
We aim to offer fast track students the opportunity to take the applied GCSE or the full GNVQ at the end of Year 9. This will entail considerable extra study and participation in extra lessons. Supporting electronic materials are available for the GNVQ course. No such materials have as yet been identified for the applied GCSE.
These students will progress to the A/S course in year 11.
We are always reviewing our work to maximise possibilities for students. There will probably be changes each year as we fine tune our schemes of work.
