LAST YEARS STUDENTS HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN University applications and in work based training.

3 students to University of Kent studying computer systems and multimedia systems.
1 student to Christchurch University studying multimedia and web design.
1 student to Aston University studying computer systems
2 students to Bournemouth University studying Multimedia.
1 student to University of Glamorgan studying Music Technology
1 student to Worcester studying Media.
3 students have a gap year before returning to university in a variety of ICT based courses in 2004
6 students have entered employment, 5 within the ICT industry.
Mrs Lister has set up several school links with the middle school attached to the Normal University of Yunnan. A long name for the top school for 12 to 18 year olds in Kunming. Kunming is a city of 3.8 million people it is the capital of Yunnan province in the south western corner of China, in the foothills of the Himalayas near Thailand, Laos, Burma and Vietnam.
The school has 2800 pupils with 65% of the senior school studying Sciences it has a heavy emphasis on scientific ideas and values the role of ICT in mathematics and science.
Mrs Lister says
"Whilst there I taught a class of 17 year olds, using the Internet as a common theme. The students English is very good and most could follow a lesson on the future of the Internet with only a little help from their friends. To see typing in Word that comes out as Chinese characters is quite a surprise. Luckily I know the set of Word and PowerPoint quite well so that I could find the areas I wanted even though I couldn't read any of it. ICT classes are the only ones in school with 30 pupils, al others have 60 or 70 students to a class, sitting very close together on small desks so that their classrooms are about the same size as ours."
