Dinner Time Arrangements

When the reception children first start school it is preferable that they go home for dinner.

Children going home for dinner should not return to school until 12.40 pm for juniors and 1.10 pm for infants.

Children may have a cooked dinner prepared in our own kitchen or they may bring a packed lunch.

The children are cared for by two midday supervisory assistants.

Dinner money should be sent to school on a Monday morning.  If you feel that your child may be entitled to a free school meal, you can obtain further information from the office.

Child Protection

If the school has concerns about the safety and welfare of a child it has the responsibility to take action and inform Social Services or the police.

We take into consideration:-

  1. The child's interests come first.
  2. The child must be listened to.
  3. Parents and other important people, such as grandparents, should be listened to and may need support themselves.
  4. Parents and other carers should be involved in the work with their children.
  5. Delays should be avoided.
  6. There should not be any unnecessary distress for anyone.
  7. In most cases it is best for children to be cared for by parents and families.

Equal Opportunities

Our policy is that every child, regardless of gender, religion, race or ability will have equal access to all aspects of the curriculum within school.

Information Requirements

A range of documents relating to curriculum aims, school philosophy, organisation and administration are available in school.  Minutes of Governors' Meetings may be viewed on request.  The annual Governors' report will be circulated to every family prior to the annual meeting.

Pastoral Care

The Pastoral Care of both adults and children in the School is co-ordinated by the Head Teacher.  By virtue of the school's organisation, close relationships can develop between teachers and children in their care and this may be enhanced by the quality of home/school co-operation given by parents/carers.

Educational Visits and Charging and Remissions Policy

Educational visits are organised as part of the curriculum.  Parents are asked to support any planned visits.

To enable these visits to take place, parents will be invited to make a 'voluntary contribution' to the cost of the event.  If insufficient money is raised to enable the activity to take place the event will be cancelled and all 'voluntary contributions' returned.

Home School Agreements

A Home School Agreement exists to promote and encourage your child to do their best at all times and to follow the school rules.

Parents and your child's teacher will be asked to sign the agreement.

Complaints

Complaints under section 23 of the Education Reform Act in respect of the curriculum should first be considered informally in discussion with the Head Teacher for example.  Complaints which have not been resolved informally must be made in writing to the Director of Education and a copy sent to the Chair of Governors.

Friends of Hamsteels Primary

All parents of children attending the school are Friends and any other person who has the interests of the school at heart can participate in fund raising activities, coffee mornings etc.
