Guidance on Admissions for Governing Bodies
The Education Act
2002, new Admissions Regulations and statutory Codes of Practice made
substantial changes to the way all schools handle admission arrrangements. The
Codes of Practice came into force on Friday 31st January 2003. See DfES.
The Archdiocese of
Westminster has produced joint guidance with the Archdiocese of Southwark and
the Diocese of Brentwood. The guidance is produced in a modular form. The
introduction, basic principles, and detailed guidance on oversubscrioption
criteria and statutory consultation requirements are available immediately.
Further parts of the guidance will be produced in due course. The various parts
of the guidance are listed below - links will activate as soon as that part of
the guidance is available.

Governing bodies are reminded that they are required to have consulted
other admission authorities on their proposed arrangements by 1st March,
and to have determined their admission arrangements by 15th April.
The complete
guidance will be revised and re-issued during the summer of 2005. Any comments
