Attainment Target 1
Religious Knowledge and Understanding
Pupils should know the beliefs, practices and attitudes of Christianity
and at least two other major world Religions. Pupils should understand
the reasons for, and applications of, religious beliefs, practices
and attitudes given by adherents.
Attainment Target 2
Religious Evaluation
They should acquire the skills of analysis,
evaluation and insight across all Components
of the Syllabus, developing an informed opinion about the value of aspects
of the Syllabus's Components in relation
to the pupils' own critical judgement. This is a subjective procedure involving
pupils' own attitudes, beliefs and practices.
| Analysis: | to define aspects of the Components of the Syllabus critically, and to assess their worth in relation to theories of rationality and of value. This is an objective procedure. |
| Insight: | to develop empathy with believers in response to Topics of destiny, creation, God, goodness, suffering and evil. Such insight may be demonstrated in a variety of responses, but cannot be tested objectively. |
