Resident. Distribution and Abundance: Common. Primary Habitat: General occurrence. Flight Period: Single brooded in August and September. Observations: This moth has the most extended emergence period of any of the autumn flying thorns, sometimes appearing as early as the third week in July with stragglers still on the wing in early October. It seems to prefer woodland edges and was particularly common at light along the edge of Glendon Wood in 1983. L.O.N.: 1907. Many localities. Rather common. First Record: 1882, Hull & Tomalin. |
