| Status:
Resident and migrant. Distribution and Abundance: Very common. Primary Habitat: General occurrence. Flight Period: Single brooded flying from June to October, peaking in August, probably reinforced by migration in late summer. Observations: The species has been consistent in its abundance over the years. In the year 2000 it was the most plentiful species at Pitsford with 3,402 recorded. Returns for the current season show 2,580 examples attracted to the two 125 m.v. light traps run nightly. By comparison, a single 80 watt light trap run in a Wellingborough garden fifty years ago in 1951 attracted 840 moths in the season. L.O.N.: 1907. Everywhere. Often abundant.
