| Small Quaker Orthosia cruda |
| Status:
Resident. Distribution and Abundance: Very common. Primary Habitat: Woodland. Flight Period: Single brooded in March and April. Observations: A catch of some 500 examples of the moth was taken on 16 March 1991 at Geddington Chase by five actinic light traps left overnight under oak. A single melanic, ab. haggarti was recorded in the catch and this remains the only major variety of the species that I have seen in the county, despite many large catches in the same and other localities. L.O.N.: 1907. Everywhere. Very common. First Record: 1892, Edwards. |
