Key to Text Moths of Northamptonshire

Key to Map
  Grey Chi Antitype chi

  Status:  Resident.

Distribution and Abundance:  Local.

Primary Habitat:  Grassland.

Flight Period:  Single brooded in August and September.

Localities:  Harlestone, Geddington Chase, Harringworth Lake and Easton on the Hill.

Observations:  The moth has certainly become less common with many seasons producing no records at all. Formerly, apart from in 1920 it was recorded annually from 1917 to 1947 at numerous localities in the Kettering and Corby area. In 1940 many were said to have been seen at Gretton. The indications are that the decline set in during the late 1940’s as the moth seems to have been uncommon at m.v. lights in the 1950’s.

L.O.N.:  1907. Several localities. Fairly common.

First Record:  1882, Hull & Tomalin.
