The Year 6 pupils, right, are busily reading
The Weirdstone of Brisingamen, by Alan Garner.  They are really enjoying this complex tale.  Both the children and their teacher would have no hesitation in recommending this book to Year 6 and upwards.

Year 5 / 6 have carried out a vote to select their top ten favourite books.  Here are the results:
1. The Snake Stone by Berlie Doherty
2 = James and The Giant Peach
Fantastic Mr Fox both by Roald Dahl
4 = The Street Child by Berlie Doherty
       The Twits by Roald Dahl
6 = Sheep Pig by Dick King Smith
      BFG  by Roald Dahl
8 = Hodgeheg by Dick King Smith
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory  by Roald
        Dahl
10 The Weirdstone of Brisingamen by
     Alan Garner

These children are members of Mrs. Lamb's Year 3 / 4 Literacy group.  They are studying
instructional texts.  After reading the instructions the children  worked to construct their masks.  A range of reading, understanding and oral skills were used.

Great effect!
We hope you agree.

Our library is open to the children throughout the school daily during term time.  Children may take any fiction book home, while non-fiction books can be taken to the classroom.
The library also houses an Internet computer as an
additional resource.
This picture shows some Year 3 / 4 children selecting books independently and, more importantly,
enthusiastically.
